It’s pretty easy…and mighty useful to go back into our own past and see where we have either made life difficult for ourselves and others…or…life has simply happened to us…

…But today…as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Future…I take you to other people’s homes so you can see what has happened to them…so that you and I learn from other’s mistakes before we make them ourselves…

First We Stop at a Window of the Noron’s…The Doer of Negative Things

Mr. and Mrs. Noron see problems in every opportunity.

They complain that the sun is too hot.
He curses the rain for ruining their plans for the day.
She blames the wind for ruining her hair.

They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.

Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes.

Each thing that challenges them is a reason to stop, to say, “surrender,” to give up, to raise the white flag…and they live in the hamster wheel every day because of it…

They never seem to move forward because they’re always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

“Perhaps the most deadly of all sins is that of letting life go by instead of getting in and meeting challenges head on, living how you want to live and making your own choices in life…always be prepared to answer this question, ‘Whose life are you living?'”

As you nod your head…understanding…we ascend…

Next…just a little way up the same street we have…

The Jumpers… They Act Before They Think.

They move based on instinct or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy it at once without any second thought.

Then they see something better. They regret & curse for not able to take advantage of the bargain. They yell at each other about money day and night…

Then they spend & spend again until nothing’s left. They don’t think about the future. What they’re after is the pleasure they will experience at present…which is always over at the end of the night…

They don’t think about the consequences. And they passed the problem on to their children… Even their kids engage in unsafe sex and even participate in criminal activity on occasion…

“They jump without parachutes and nets…everything they buy today goes down in value tomorrow…thus they can end up nowhere but the street they are on. When they want anything in the future, they are denied everything. They can neither help those they love or themselves because they could only feel the pleasure of being in the moment…they could never see what you are seeing tonight…do you understand?”

You nod and we ascend…

We arrive at the home of…

The Babbler’s. They Talk and Rarely Listen

As we peer in their window they both think they are talking to each other…but she is talking about the children and he is yelling about his day at work…

Oftentimes they are not aware that what they’re saying is not sensible anymore.

When other people advise them, they close their ears because they’re too proud to admit their mistakes.

In their mind they’re always correct. They reject suggestions because that would make them feel inferior.

“Notice…they ask no questions…they think the other is listening…but they are deaf to each other…They hear nothing their children say…nothing their friends say…They can’t say they were wrong because they are too busy being right…they could never say they are sorry for the other would never hear them…They could never stop and look at each other in the eyes and say, ‘I love you.'”

“Do you understand?”

You nod and we ascend…

We arrive shortly at…

The Kitter’s apartment…They Give Up Easily and Often

“Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success. Each failure in life is generally unimportant…but the Kitter’s never learned that…”

They call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure. At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter errors.

You say, “…but they seem happy,”

“Oh, tonight, yes…they haven’t had a problem yet with the new project…they went to the meeting this afternoon. Tomorrow…sadly…will not be the same…”

Then they go & search for a new one. Same story & same results. They don’t have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

“You must persist until you succeed, literally never giving up until you have played the music that is in your soul…do you understand?”

You nod and we ascend…

Soon we come upon…

The Downer’s… They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

Peeking in the window, you see them complaining about how Gates doesn’t deserve this and Oprah doesn’t deserve that and Britney and Jessica have no talent…and on and on…

They envy successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring them down.

They could’ve asked for help to become great…they’re too proud. They don’t want to ask for advice…it makes them feel weak inside…and it wouldn’t matter, they’re too negative to accomplish anything.

Successful people make it through trials & error. They never give up. They are willing to do everything necessary to achieve what they aspire for in life.

“Spirit Take Me Away…I’ve seen enough…What do I do? I don’t want to end up as these people have…I don’t want a shell of a life. I want a real life. Oh please, what can I do?”

In your eyes I gaze and find that which can be…within…

“My friend…Today is Christmas…What does Christmas mean to you?”

“I don’t know Spirit…it’s about giving gifts…it’s about the Baby…”

“Yes…It’s about The True and Magnificent Power of Giving!”

“Do you know what hidden power lies within ‘giving?'”

“When you give something from your heart, you release a powerful force that causes great shifts in those around you so that it’s often felt afar…”

“Whatever you impart to others will come back to you many fold.”

“You are doing yourself a big favor by helping someone in need. By doing even the smallest acts of generosity, you are inviting good vibrations to come into your life.

“The act of giving can summon the spirit of joy to come into your heart. How will you feel when you’ve given something to your less fortunate neighbors?

“But listen…Keep your good deeds to yourself. Don’t announce to the world what you have done…when you and you alone know of your generosity and love…then you can know that you are changing the world…starting inside with you…Give secretly and in private.”

A long pause as we ascend into the quiet sky as the snow falls past us…

“But Spirit…Is that all? I mean…giving? Will that be enough to cause great success?”

You see a smile…

“My friend…nothing is as easy as we want it to be…but when you think on all you have seen tonight… you have begun…when you act on all you have learned tonight…you have taken your first step…when you live all you have learned tonight you will have given the world a great gift…your life.”
