A. Not a lot. It’s hard to see anyone in the group aside from Clinton or Obama emerge as important in the race. What’s really interesting is the frame if they run together. If you think about what’s possible, you have a strong black vote and probably a very strong female vote. That’s enough to turn the country from Red to Blue. What happens if the ticket were to make it? Internationally, the perception of the U.S. would change sharply and frankly that would be a good thing. Obama seems to be very calm under pressure. Rarely says the wrong thing. He’s tall, decent looking…but that name Obama sounds an awful lot like a real bad guy’s name…and that stuff matters in the perception process. It’s gonna be interesting…
A. Of course not. There’s plenty of people I don’t want in my life.
Q. I’ve found that when I ‘make myself’ interested in something I’m not ‘naturally’ interested in, and I get people talking and opening up….sometimes it becomes ALL they want to talk about…..and at the time it may be cool…..but then when I see them later, when I’m not quite in the mood to ‘make myself interested’ in that particular topic and it’s all they want to talk about, it kinda alienates me and bores me and drains my energy. Im not trying to sound like a jerk, its just some topics do that, you know?
A. It took me years to figure this out.
“Hey, 17 minutes of automobile information is my limit. We have to switch to X now or I’ll freak out.”
“…Interesting….Hey…what were you thinking about when you said… x earlier?”
Either tell them right out this is not a place your brain can be after giving the subject a fair listen, or, shift the attention more subtly to something else.
A.I’m a real hands on, face to face, talk with people, it has to work or I won’t put my name on it… control freak. So……… I probably put in more face time and one-on-one talk time with my people than any high ticket mentor. I’m a member of Dan’s Gold group. They have a nice model. We made some adjustments to our Platinum and Gold Programs for this year that I hope will easily make our team the premier Inner Circle in the world.
That narrows it to four. Covert Hypnosis sells more by far than SI 1-12 but that’s only because of the cool title. It’s an awesome program and SI sounds a bit dry, but it rocks. The 60 volumes are the best on persuasion and influence, by far from anyone anywhere.
Q. Just curious Democrat to Republican? Because they are better marketers…No child left Behind, Compassionate Conservative… I thought Republicans…self-named conservatives (good marketing) would have less Pork, less corruption and strengthen America. I would love to be Wrong about current state of affairs. I am not a fan of either party…I really like hearing your takes… great stuff keep it up.
A. I used to be able to say a fiscal conservative instead of Libertarian, but that doesn’t even work anymore. I’m so disappointed in our administration. There should be no pork, no corruption and a rested military. I will almost certainly vote Libertarian in the 08 election.
A. Anxiety. Maybe it’s about him not wanting to talk to you, or anyone, or he’s getting antsy to get home.
A. Currently we have CVX, MSF, GG, AAUK, GOLD, LZOEX. (When we dumped XLE we bought another share of CVX. Then sold 1/2 of that to buy AAUK.) Now it’s time to dump GG and add another share of AAUK in it’s place.”
Q. Last week you posted 5 Rules for success and a $100,000 key. I am wondering what your strategies are for walking through the fear and beyond to accomplishing your goals. I assume that it’s now a naturally programmed response(or habit), since you have an extensive history of completed projects. What strategies did you use before it became a consistent habit? Are they different from the strategies you use today?
A. I modified a lot of NLP techniques back in the early 90’s after testing strategies and so forth, in our school here in Minnesota. I’ll put some articles in Coffee this summer. If there’s anything I could suggest it would be to do your daily projects until they are done. Don’t go to bed. Get in the habit of doing everything before you go to sleep. Shortly it becomes wired in and much easier. Today it’s definitely easier because there is no wondering whether something “will work,” or whether, “it” can be done. “It” (which is really just another word for your name) always works by choice. Yours and mine.
Q. I have some ideas from NLP and Hypnosis that work for me and I’m always looking to model people like you who are much more proficient, since occasionally, I get stuck between steps 3 and 4 or 4 and 5. By the way, I think the Subliminal DVD’s you produced with Mark Ryan are helpful with these last two steps.
A. Mark did a nice job of getting the subliminals cued in correctly so the dvd’s would accomplish our goals for them. Thanks.
A. Learn to think like a scientist. Learn logic. Learn about history and psychology. Develop some hobbies. Today’s hobbies might be tomorrow’s business. Maybe the two most important things: Start your own business now if you are over 10 years old. Sell greeting cards, cut lawns, shovel snow. And do nice things for other people. Be generous with your time. Save your money.
Q. While I wait I am re- reading your book Covert Persuasion, in it you give as covert persuasion tactic 41 on pg. 93 the 80/20 rule. You state that “Sometimes it is more important to use a few techniques or tricks with a very high degree of skill” In your book you give 55 persuasion tactics, so 20% would be 11 tactics to learn with a very high degree of skill. If you were told that you had choose 11, and only 11, covert persuasion tactics from your persuasion arsenal, and discard the rest forever, what 11 tactics would you choose to keep?
A. There are literally hundreds of cool strategies and techniques that are in my work. I wouldn’t pick 10 or 20. I’d practice one technique a few times per day in a few different contexts until it makes sense across contexts. Then move on to the next technique or strategy the next day.
Q. Partnership not working! A scenario heard so many times. I decided six months ago to give notification of my retirement from the business as per the Partnership Agreement, time is getting close and reminding my partner that action needs to be taken has further highlighted our differences. How do I deal with a seemingly impossible situation regarding behaviour and attitude. Past problems leading to the retirement decision-lightswitch syndrome, sweet one moment down on everyone the next, over spends, likes to control people, acts like a spoilt child, expert after doing something once. Sounds like sour grapes and judgmental, no, its time to let go, her personality is so mixed up, ethics and morals. I was hoping we could part from the business with dignity and a little financial benefit but opening up dialogue and being able to talk in a sensible manner seems impossible. She goes from no conversation to ok for one second, to the little girl act, sarcasm etc etc on a daily basis. Advice please on how to cope with this now accelerated behaviour and keep sane.
A. Talking isn’t working. Ask her to put together her plan for the next 30 days (or whatever) on paper so you can adjust it and move toward dissolving the business relationship. You don’t want to end up in some kind of weird legal battle that will cost you both and screw everything up. She won’t yell at her computer and printer.
