A. I’m not sure why, but I’ve received a ridiculously large amount of e-mail in reference to this. I’ve written an entire article this week about it.
The ideas (the ‘Law of Attraction’, etc.) aren’t just potentially devastating, they are devastating. Like all spiritual belief systems, I’m sure there are some very well intended people who truly believe that the thesis of The Secret “makes sense.” It takes very little time to show that it makes no sense. Very easy to prove. Not just find evidence, but prove it is ridiculous. If you want, I’ll be happy to put up some simple proofs over the next few weeks.
A. The author of The Secret says it’s as easy to attract $10,000 as it is $1. Now there is an interersting quote. There are a BILLION people starving on this planet every day. Maybe more. If ANYONE human had the power to attract money like I do mosquitos wouldn’t it be deplorable to not solve world hunger with that?
By simple logic if it’s as easy to attract 10K as it is $1, then it is as easy to attract $10,004 as it is a dollar. Yes?
Or $11,000? Or $12,000? Or $13,000?. At what specific dollar value is not possible to have the same result attracting that dollar figure as a dollar?
Problem is if you go in the trillions you have to attract the Federal Government to print trillions more dollars of bonds, sell them, then print money backed by those bonds. Then of course, we force a world wide depression.
The math is pretty simple. The logic is simple. The belief is utterly fallacious and anyone who has a high school education can do the math.
Then there are simple basic sixth grade experiments that can be done in any classroom.
It’s a philosophy of ignorance aimed at the same people who buy lottery tickets and I don’t like it.
In the article I wrote this week, I discuss the Attraction Principle which is based on rock solid science and there is an article on the website you can read for further information.
At first glance they look similar, but then again, at first glance I think i look like Tom Cruise… (not)
Never dismiss the power of intention, attention, focused thinking, etc. It’s a proven fact that all of these things are correlated to achievement and certainly wealth. But to go to the myth that you can attract something by thinking of it without further action in the direction of your thought, is second grade foolishness and will lead to personal destruction, guilt and in a lot of cases cost people their lives. It’s not worth entertaining this myth.
A. All of my work is applicable instantly to any sales process because the study of influence is not quite the same as the study of selling. Words, while important are not anywhere near as important as dozens of other factors. You can read a book on real estate sales and I promise you that you will get more from Science of Influence 1-12 than you will any course or book on real estate.
Q. Alpha Male Syndrome. I have been seeing a lot of this going around. Why is it a complex and/or syndrome when in fact its more about DNA. Are we so into being PC now, that we as males have to become sissy’s so they are not intimidated?
A. Confession: What a great question. I’ve pondered these kinds of things in the past. You are correct. What is being called a “syndrome” is actually biologically optimal survival behavior (on the savanna) No syndrome. There is no such syndrome and deviation from this behavior is actually abnormal, and not normal.
A. I read an article about how to repackage material to make it look like it was new material so it can be sold. What a bunch of crap. I hate buying rehash. It’s not quite unethical but it ticks me off. You can be assured that from book to book (that I write) you won’t find rehash. From CD program to CD program, no significant replication. From DVD to DVD no significant replication. In other words, I might mention my son’s name, tell a story about a trip to Amsterdam or whatever but the material is always fresh and new. I treat you precisely how I would like to be treated by you. Period.
Q. Kevin, at the recent Boot Camp we didn’t have the time to answer the question about the importance of the order that one sets positive and negative anchors on stage for a presentation. Does it make a difference whether you set the positive anchor first versus setting the negative anchor first?
A. I like to set negative anchors first. They are easiest to create and place. Then on the opposite side of the stage I will set a positive anchor. If I have a nice sized stage, I’ll do as they do in theater and set three or four points. Great Q.
Q. Yesterday I saw my ex-girlfriend by accident, our friendship ended badly. She tried to file false charges of domestic violence against me and was charged and convicted of filing a false report. When she saw me yesterday I noticed her hips began to move left to right. If you were a male behind her you’d notice her. What was she trying to say to me? She also had slight smile come across her face as her hips began to move.
A. She’s rubbing herself in your face. Sorry to hear about the difficulties. Sometimes people have streaks of the dark side that run deeper than we imagined.
Q. If you were to imagine your clients who have most fully integrated your Science to Influence (CD programs and other) material, what specifically would you (or they) say that they do consistently? Your material is excellent and I want to know from you or anecdotally what the top people do to instill, ingrain, and use your wisdom on a daily basis.
A. This is a great question. I asked a few people in my Inner Circle and they told me they would listen to all the CD’s in Science of Influence, or The Millionaire Mind program over and over and over until the CD’s became part of their new, natural thinking process. (Unconscious/Nonconscous) In my experience, that is also what I have found to be most helpful. That way you are relearning information in the context of new days, new relationships and so forth.
Q. What do you think the Libertarians are doing wrong that keeps them out of the press and from being taken seriously for bigger races? My views fit theirs so nicely! I would like to see a serious, press-worthy, non-wacky Libertarian presidential candidate in 2008. I refuse to vote Democrat or Republican again, because I need to do my part to break this two party system that holds America hostage. Since you have stated that you are a conservative Libertarian, perhaps the party would be open to your wisdom. Or…. would you run? 🙂
A. Libertarian sounds sort of like Seventh Day Adventist or Jehovah’s Witness or Environmentalist. Not going to get elected. Libertarians like you and me can’t stand government so much that we hate the idea of being poisoned by even the smell.
Libertarians are a fascinating cross section of brilliant and wealthy people who want the government out of their bedroom and kitchen.
A Libertarian tells the truth and has values that are not able to be bought. How do you go on TV in front of a country taught to be reliant on a government that steals money from it’s citizens and say, “OK folks, here’s the deal. Social Security and Medicare: We aren’t funding them anymore so you aren’t going to collect. 10 year phase out period and it’s over. Oh, and military spending has to return to the purpose of defense. Yes, we’ll always build infrastructure and lead the world in clean water, but as far as arts and grants to colleges and tax break for tuition or child care, forget it. No more education checks to schools. No more research grants. You get to keep your guns, have an abortion (whether I personally like it or not) and pay ZERO income taxes as there is a 40% consumption tax on every product in the country until we’ve paid off the debt we owe the world (essentially the money we owe China and Japan for keeping our country afloat the last decade).” I can see the tomatoes being thrown already. But ultimately there is no other way a country can permanently run.
As far as me running, yes, the idea continually is brought up. But I’m not sure I’m electable. I like to look at women, play cards and do evil things like wager on sports on the internet. (Ummmm I’m telling Mom…) Yeah. Of course so do all the other politicians, they simply lie and tell people otherwise. Integrity has been out of style for a long, long time.
Q. I’m Jewish and I just heard a story on NPR about ultra-orthodox Jews in Israel demanding that women keep to the back of their special buses, etc. Are the pulls of sexual attraction really that strong that these poor men need to keep great distances from women? My guess is that the more restrictions and rules you put on people, the more tantalizing restricted activities (like looking at a woman’s legs in sheer stockings vs. opaque!) will become. Isn’t this sect, as others, creating men who believe they are powerless over their own impulses, thereby causing them to become more defensive & less compassionate with “that other sex”? I also wonder what is so very threatening about women having choices over our own bodies. I’m sure if rules were given to women limiting our interaction with men because we’re so weak would create quite a backlash!
A. Answering your question is next to impossible.
Every religion has it’s extreme factions ….BUT that said, I spent a while living the tenets of the Jewish faith.(you didn’t know that I bet!) I’ve kept the feasts, the Sabbath (Shabat), ate the right meats and so forth.
The Jewish faith/Torah isn’t exactly a female-friendly religion. (No major religion really is)
Respect for women in the 21st century way of thinking doesn’t exist in the Torah. Yes we can pull a few scriptures and try and BS the facts, but if you look at the law (torah) and simply read Leviticus and Deutoronomy, there is no one who can say that men and women should have equal rights in any way according to the writer of these documents.
I can tell you that men and women are very different in the number of minutes per hour we think about sex and based upon what the Torah teaches about sex, From the fundamentalist perspective, it makes sense to have women out of sight, out of mind. Sex is on our minds so often that ….well…it’s embarrassing even for me to give you numbers!
For 2 million years we have known that men have little control over their impulses, and I don’t see this changing any time soon.
My best guess is that these extremists don’t really think in terms of this issue as being helpless over their passions…. they are probably more concerned about following the TNKH and Torah to the letter.
As far as women having choices over their own bodies, that just makes sense, but such a notion isn’t in the Torah or the TNKH. That kind of thinking is very foreign to the Scripture.
I have a sincere and great respect for all the major world religions and as long as people are keeping to themselves and not knocking on my door, telling me they have the one and only, or are blowing up the World Trade Center, people deserve to live freely within their own religion, perhaps even allowing for cultural growth.
But think about this…. you are dealing with the finger of God, the literal finger of God…there are often clashes with that finger and the very liberal lifestyle of the 21st century.
I remember living in the mindset that every scripture was given by the inspiration of God and that the finger of God cut the stone tablets to make the 10 Commandments. That is pretty profound stuff.
As men….forgive us…we are the pathetic half of our species….I always felt God really favored women….:)
